NYC Facelift Plastic Surgeon Dr. Adam Schaffner regularly performs Facelift Plastic Surgery and Mini Facelift Plastic Surgery at his fully accredited plastic surgery center in NYC on Park Avenue. Facelift surgery (“rhytidectomy”) is a plastic surgery procedure performed to improve the appearance of jowls and neck laxity and restore volume lost with age. There are many types of face lift procedures that can be performed to deliver the results you desire – every facelift surgery is customized by Adam Schaffner, MD, FACS to yield the best possible results.

Full Facelift Plastic Surgery: Full Facelift plastic surgery is performed by NYC Plastic Surgeon to rejuvenate the aging face. Frequently, a combination of techniques are used to deliver an optimal result. This includes lifting tissue that has fallen with age. It also includes removing excess skin that has become loose with age, gravity or due to significant changes in weight. Fat transfer may also be performed to restore volume lost with age. This fat may also help improve skin quality as well.

A full facelift plastic surgery requires incisions that  are placed just above the ears, then turn inside the skin creases and cartilage of the front of the ear, and then go up and behind the ears. This way, they have the best possibility of being healing in natural skin creases and areas which are well hidden from the public. The skin of the middle and lower face is loosened from the underlying tissue. The deeper tissues are repositioned to where they were when you were younger. Excess skin is removed. Sometimes Adam Schaffner, MD, FACS also uses the patient’s own tissue to restore volume in the mid-face/cheek area. A full face lift can improve  wrinkles,  lift tissue that fell with age, and restore volume lost with age. Sometimes, muscle bands in the central neck area addressed with a platysmaplasty where the bands are brought together like they were when you were younger. Fat under the chin (submental fat) may be addressed with liposuction.

If a person has a weak chin, a chin implant may be used to provide a stronger chin. This not only provides better balance to the face but also provides a better structural framework on which the soft tissues rest. This will improve the longevity of the face-lift result. For patients who have extra skin and/or bags of the upper or lower eyelids, a Blepharoplasty (Eyelid Surgery) may be performed at the time of a facelift to rejuvenate the upper and lower eyelids.  This will help trim excess skin and fat. Sometimes, fat can be repositioned to help fill a “tear trough” which gives someone the appearance of hollow eyes.

By lifting tissues that have fallen with age, removing excess skin, and restoring volume lost with age, a facelift can dramatically improve visible signs of aging in the face and neck, such as:

  • Jowls
  • Platysmal bands
  • Sagging in the midface
  • Deep creases between the nose extending to the corner of the mouth
  • Loose skin and excess fatty deposits under the chin and jaw (causing a “double chin” or “turkey gobbler”)

Mini-Facelift Plastic Surgery: A Mini Facelift is a plastic surgery procedure performed by NYC mini-facelift Plastic Surgeon Dr. Adam Schaffner to rejuvenate the lower face and upper neck. The mini-facelift is an ideal option for patients who do not have pronounced signs of aging. The mini facelift plastic surgery procedure targets the lower face and upper neck and will not affect the forehead and brow position, the eyelids, or the mid- face area. In short, a mini-facelift lifts tissue and trims skin but less dramatically compared to a full face lift.

Benefits of Mini-Face Lifts include:

  • Mini-Facelift is safe, effective and subtle
  • Mini-Facelift targets specific problem areas
  • Mini-Facelift is customized to meet your specific needs
  • Mini-Facelift can prevent premature signs of aging
  • Mini-Facelift is less invasive – so there is less downtime
  • Mini-Facelift results in a subtle, refreshed, youthful look

Mid-Facelift:  A mid-facelift is oftentimes referred to as a “Cheek Lift”.  Mid-facelift plastic surgery vertically elevates and repositions sagging cheek and jowl pads to increase cheek volume and create a more defined profile.  A mid-facelift addresses one of the earliest signs of aging (sagging of the cheeks and the surrounding area). Many of NYC mid-facelift Plastic Surgeon Dr. Adam Schaffner’s patients select a mid-facelift as “preventive” anti-aging surgery. Essentially, a mid-face lift elevates the fat pad in the cheek and provides fullness to the eyes and cheeks – leading to a refreshed, rejuvenated youthful appearance. Often times, a mid-facelift may be combined with fat transfer to this area to restore volume lost with age. Results are more permanent than those offered by any “injectables” and recovery time from a mid-face lift is substantially quicker than a traditional face-lift.

Good candidates for a mid-face lift include:

  • Those with heaviness below the cheeks
  • Those with “hollowness” beneath the eyes
  • Healthy men or women who do not have medical conditions that can impair healing or increase the risk of surgery
  • Individuals with a positive outlook and specific, but realistic goals in mind for the improvement of their appearance

Thread lift: Thread lifts are a surgical alternative to facelifts and offer you a safe, effective and non-surgical option that provides long-lasting facial rejuvenation. With a thread lift, you can enjoy relief from many symptoms commonly treated by facelifts in about an hour. A thread lift cannot treat more severe facial ageing, but it can help many individuals stop and reverse early and unwanted signs of ageing and avoid more invasive procedures. The triple board certified NYC plastic surgeon customizes thread lift procedures to each and every patient.
